Penny and the Puppettes® is a live, interactive, musical-comedy puppet show designed for kids ages 1-8. Featuring the singing of NYU musical theatre graduates, Penny and the Puppettes® brings a genuine theater experience to your birthday party, school, library, camp, or other event. They offer 1 to 3 person shows! 

The Puppettes perform an original 30-50 minute show with all of their Puppette friends, using comedy and lots of audience participation to draw the children into the experience. 

Every show is customized and age-appropriate. In brief humorous sketches before each song, Penny and the Puppettes® empower the children to deal with shyness and peer-pressure, to care for nature, and to respect their own feelings and the feelings of others. 

Parents and teachers are pleased to have life lessons presented through music, laughter and fun.

The secret to The Puppettes' success with keeping kids (and adults!) engaged during their entire show:  

include a blend of music, puppets, movement, and change it up!  


FOR GROUPS OF CHILDREN AGES 1-2:  shows include lots of hands-on interaction with the puppets, movement, and rhythm.

FOR GROUPS OF CHILDREN AGES 3-5:  shows incorporate more humor, interactive activities, and dancing. 

FOR GROUPS OF CHILDREN AGES 5-8:  shows include more wacky characters, helping puppet friends with problem-solving, and the tricky, high-energy, "Count to Ten Freeze Dance". 

FOR GROUPS OF ALL AGES:  shows include all of the above!

A 45 minute bonanza of catchy music, talking-singing-muppet-style puppets, and interactive activities to keep children engaged and entertained for the entire show.  This show includes:

  • Wide variety of lovable, funny puppets- We make all of the voices!

  • Colorful puppet theater with big windows, sound system with headset mic

  • Sing-alongs to classic children's songs for groups of very young children  (Old MacDonald, If You're Happy and You Know It, etc.)

  • Fun, interactive dancing and movement:  Groups of younger kids love the Hokey Pokey while the older kids try to outsmart the Count to 10 Freeze Dance

  • Listening to and helping our puppets with their problems; being good friends!

  • Multi-dimensional use of puppet theater with puppets popping out through the windows at the same time that one of us is engaging the kids out front

  • For certain performances, we offer a full-body costume transformation into one of our costumed characters:

    • Captain Traptain the Confused Pirate bumbles his way around to find his parrot while the kids flutter baby-bat finger puppets!

    • Belladonna the Butterfly Fairy Princess arrives for a spectacular ending with the children fluttering butterfly finger puppets!

This more intimate option works best for fewer than 15 kids and is catered to ages 1-5.  Similar to the Classic show with our inclusion of talking-singing-muppet-style puppets and interactive activities to keep children engaged, but scaled down and less theatrical.  This option includes:

  • Sitting on the floor and performing next to the kids

  • Small panels to hide puppets instead of puppet theater

  • Smaller speaker for recorded music

  • Small maracas for each kid to shake along to ukulele accompaniment of children’s favorites (Wheels on the Bus, If You’re Happy and You Know it)

  • Small hand puppets for each child to hold during ukulele accompaniment of Old MacDonald

  • Movement includes dancing/bopping to the Hokey Pokey

  • Amplification possible if more than 15 kids for additional fee
